Buried Truth

THE TRACER IS BACK. A new Robbie Thornton mystery. Award-winning investigative journalist Hannah Cole believes the truth can always be coaxed from the past. Then she starts digging into the disappearance of fellow journalist Roberta Isselton, who vanished from Sydney’s Kings Cross in 1984. Her world is upturned when she discovers that her uncle, a former Kings Cross police officer, vanished not long after Isselton did. And somehow, their disappearances are linked. She turns to Robbie Thornton, the Tracer, to help her find her uncle. But the deeper Thornton and Hannah dig, the more dangerous the past becomes. When Hannah is attacked and Thornton’s office is firebombed, they soon realise that someone is still protecting what happened in 1984. Perhaps even more than that. Someone still wants the past to remain buried. As Michael Cole’s name keeps surfacing where it shouldn’t, the investigation widens to encompass a new NSW Police homicide case and an old Federal Police investigation. The trail winds through forgotten police files, old notebooks and unexplained journeys, into the shadows of a Kings Cross where organised crime, corrupt police, property interests and political power once lived in dangerous proximity. As the search stretches into the Blue Mountains, Thornton begins to suspect the real mystery isn’t why two people disappeared. It’s what they knew. And what survived them. Buried Truth is an atmospheric Australian crime novel of corruption, old loyalties and secrets that refuse to stay buried. Perfect for readers of Michael Connelly, Michael Robotham and Chris Hammer.
