The Sales 101 Book Directory is operated as part of Sales 101 (sales-101.ca), a Canadian publication. This privacy policy explains how we handle information collected through the directory at sales-101.ca/directory.

2. What We Collect

We collect the following information when you use the directory:

• Account information: Email address and a hashed (never plain-text) password when you create an author or reader account.
• Display name: The name you choose to display publicly on the directory.
• Book listing information: Title, description, cover URL, category, buy links, preview chapter text, and other details you voluntarily submit.
• Backlink URLs: URLs you submit through your dashboard to verify that you have linked to the directory.
• Email addresses for coupon gates: If you submit your email to unlock an email-gated coupon code, that email is stored and you are subscribed to our newsletter.
• Newsletter subscriptions: Email addresses voluntarily submitted through our newsletter form.
• Book clicks: We record clicks on book buy links to help authors understand engagement. No personally identifiable information is stored in click logs.

3. How We Use It

• To operate the directory — displaying book listings and author pages.
• To verify your email and authenticate your account.
• To send email verification codes and password reset links.
• To send newsletter updates if you have opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time.
• To verify backlink submissions.
• To calculate Top 10 and Top 50 rankings.

4. We Do Not Sell Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising targeting. Email addresses collected for the newsletter or coupon gates are used solely for those purposes.

5. Cookies and Sessions

We use a single HTTP-only cookie called dir_session to maintain your login session. This cookie contains a signed JWT and does not track you across other websites. It expires after 7 days. No third-party tracking cookies are used on the directory.

6. Data Retention

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Book click logs older than 2 years are automatically purged. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

7. Your Rights

You may request:

• Access to the data we hold about you.
• Correction of inaccurate data.
• Deletion of your account and associated data.
• Unsubscription from our newsletter at any time.
